Which version (I tested with mozilla about 6 months ago, with no
problems). Also, how long are "after some minutes"? If it's less than 5
minutes, mozilla certainly is to blame (but you can increase the timeout).
In any case, mozilla is a suboptimal way to download such files, better
use wget, lftp or some other downloader that you can push to the
background.
(most "simple" downloaders like wget work out of the box, without any
options).

The you had more than one connection open at a time, or retried too
quickly. (OR somebody else did together with you, on the same proxy).

The default for wget is 15 minutes timeout.

Maybe your connection dies in between? Also, small files such as manga and
music are usually delivered in less than 5 minutes, so it's no wonder it
doesn't timeout.
