Indeed, and no, tjere is no fix available at the moment. However, there is
another concern:

It makes the more dangerous w.r.t. safety, but not, afaicr, w.r.t. to
security, i.e. it might protect you from accidents, but not from security
exploits.

The confirm-selection extensions in urxvt should be able to protect you from
both those accidents and their (some of) their security implications.
