flickering on screen clear

Hi,

I've noticed that there's some screen flickering when clearing the
screen. This can be easily seen by pressing and holding Ctrl-L key to
clear the screen. The flickering is not present in any other terminal
emulator I've tested doing the same action.

Usually it's not an issue, but in some situations it could be quite
annoying. I've noticed it today with: http://sshtron.zachlatta.com/.
The flickering when connected to that server with urxvt is quite
annoying.

Does anybody know why is the flickering happening or if it can
be mitigated somehow?
