Unable to render some unicode characters.

When running the following `echo -e "\u231a\u21d1\u271a\u27a6\u25cf"`
\u231a , the "clock" character, fails to render, but renders as expected in
other terminals such as Terminator and xfce4-terminal with identical fonts.
Have reproduced with several fonts on Arch, Debian, and Gentoo. With some
fonts, such as Terminus, the issue affects all of the characters in the
above test case.
The following is with 'monospace' on both urxvt and terminator:

Oddly, I have seen \u231a render momentarily on one system once, but then
on dragging the window to another screen and back, and the character was
replaced with a box again. Weird stuff going on there. Could be unrelated.
