such a patch was recently proposed in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=753280
but we haven't had the time and motivation to review it. We are not
opposed to the feature in general but the patch should be as clean and
small as possible to be accepted. From a quick look the aforementioned
patch seems more complicated than necessary, but it should still be a
good starting point if you want to work on the integration of this
feature in urxvt.
