cutchars don't seem to support unicode

Oh, I thought you meant that disabling the extension is required for this
to work. I have added the selection extension to the list, but it still
doesn't seem to work. Also, for ascii characters it works both with and
without the selection extension (for unicode it doesn't seem to work with
either).
