When changing the socket path anyway, why not put it in /tmp? This has the
advantage of being a local file system vs. $HOME which might be on AFS (for
example), which does not support UNIX sockets [1]. By putting it to (for
example) /tmp/urxvtd-<username>, you avoid that kind of problem entirely.
