can't get keysym option to work with 8.4 and later

Hi,

I haven't been able to get the "-keysym.sym string" option to work with
versions 8.4 and 8.5. My configure options are as follows:

./configure --enable-everything --enable-perl --enable-xft
--disable-text-blink --disable-iso14755

Everything works fine in 8.3, but I haven't been able to pin down what
changed that affected this functionality.

Anyone have ideas of how to fix this or what I'm doing wrong?
