This can be fixed easily by a window manager that follows the program
requested size hints.

Low quality window manager directly translates into bad looking
output. The fix is a higher quality window manager, not hacks in each and
every program (note that urxvt works correctly and fats now, slowing down
tinting for bad wms is not acceptable).
