Cursor/tab character display problem

Hi,

when the cursor is positioned over a tab character, it sometimes
occupies more place than a single cell. To reproduce, either type
"<tab><CERASE>" at the beginning of a line or execute the command
"printf %b '\tsometext\r'; sleep 20". This is with version 4.1 as
well as with a recent CVS checkout.
