By redundant I meant that they don't seem to change the result of
compilation. Declaring symbols static is not redundant, it is an
absolutely necessity, especially on Linux where symbols from shared
libraries tend to leak all over the place. :)

Anyway, I just filed a bug report on clang bugzilla, I hope I
