they probably have the same absolute expiry time, but different durations. OR
he doesn't know they have the same duration.

#4 only works when you know you have the same duration than some previous
timer, but if that is more or less random, you'd have to lok through all
timers somehow.

it could well be that his actual problem doesn't require this - we only
know his solution, but not his problem yet.
