Problem with POSTing from AnyEvent::HTTP

I'm trying to make a request with AnyEvent::HTTP, but want to let a CPAN
module construct the request for me. But this is resulting in a mangled
request somehow. I have detailed the problem with sample code on Perlmonks

Is my logic/expectation faulty or is this a bug?
