I guess what you want to know is whether the transport encodes json as utf-8,
and the answer to that would be yes.

Are you trying to implement the protocol yourself or why the question? In
that case, if all you want to do is interface with some node in another
language, note that you can define your own framing, for example, binary
length-prefixed strings, by defining your own framing format (for example,
one using pack "N/(N/a*)" or so) as AnyEvent::Handle type and specifying
this type as one of the framing_format's in the node config.
