Space and cabling are far more problematic. Or controller BIOS software, which in my case happily puts all disks in UDMA 5 mode despite 90cm long 40 pin cables :/ Also, one disk somewhat died (it's still readable, which is all I want from it for the next years or so, but it doesn'T like to be written anymore. Fortunately it was nearly full already). > Another question: Anybody from Australia on this mail list? If so, can you > access > the server? I always get a placeholder page ... That's a very interesting problem indeed. I asked a few people form australia and they had no problems. Maybe the specific institution/provider used a transparent (or a normal) proxy? Some institutions filter everything with certain words in the domain name, such as ... "anime". Another possible reason for the problem would be that there were routing problems (it seems some us provider errornously grabbed IP space assigned to the server), but that was only temporarily, and started only afetr you first reported that. -- The choice of a -----==- _GNU_ ----==-- _ generation Marc Lehmann ---==---(_)__ __ ____ __ pcg at goof.com --==---/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / http://schmorp.de/ -=====/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ XX11-RIPE From smith_winston_6079 at hotmail.com Tue May 24 01:51:41 2005 From: smith_winston_6079 at hotmail.com (Winston Smith) Date: Tue, 24 May 2005 04:51:41 +0500 Subject: placeholder pager Message-ID: For some reason, I can access the server again. Ok, I have five issues: The first is the sorting order of /anime/manga, /anime/music and /hentai/series. I don't get it. Why are there some directories with unsorted stuff? Most of it can be easily inserted in the appropriate directories... Second: Does anybody have links to the OST of Naushika? plan9 does only have one song. Since I saw the movie I'd like to have it, but it's hardly available in Australia. Third: I can't share mariagottlob's problems. Sorry. Yes, a standard wget is able to download stuff from plan9. In general it's a good idea not to use the browser for downloading because you don't have control over what your browser is doing (number of connections etc.). If you're using Windows, then try a download program. Just google... Forth: The problem with the placeholder page is solved. schmorp, you remember? Last: It would be great if there is a possibility to get announcements about deletings, updates and additions. Then one has not search each directory for new stuff every week or month. In my experience, it is a lot of work. Hmm. looking at the images, it seems they are part of some artbook (hmm, not even that). No, they don't belong into a subdir of manga/Card*, because there is (usually) one directory per manga in there, without extra files. The name should be changed to sth. more approriate, of course, so it is grouped to the other ccs mangas. (That I can do easily). > If you want, I can give you a complete list of subdirs which I think aren't > sorted > in the appropriate dir, but this will take one or two days... Although urls are slightly preferable, if it suits you you could just as well give a list of paths (i.e. "/anime/manga/ccs_ch2/"). -- The choice of a -----==- _GNU_ ----==-- _ generation Marc Lehmann ---==---(_)__ __ ____ __ pcg at goof.com --==---/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / http://schmorp.de/ -=====/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ XX11-RIPE From smith_winston_6079 at hotmail.com Wed Jun 22 01:38:49 2005 From: smith_winston_6079 at hotmail.com (Winston Smith) Date: Wed, 22 Jun 2005 04:38:49 +0500 Subject: Sorting order In-Reply-To: <20050621102211.GD10772@schmorp.de> Message-ID: >From: Marc Lehmann >To: anime at plan9.de >Subject: Re: Sorting order >Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 12:22:11 +0200 > >... Unfortunately, it is not. But as you wrote in you next email, this example is an artbook. My suggestion is the following layout of /music and /manga: /manga/// for each Manga X and each chapter Y whereas Artbooks etc. would be considered as chapters too /music/// for each series X and each album/single Y. This would be a logical sorting order in my opinion. > > If you want, I can give you a complete list of subdirs which I think >aren't > > sorted > > in the appropriate dir, but this will take one or two days... > >Yeah, that would be great, wether it takes two days or months, time >doesn't matter. Yes, a huge tree, as I thought. Ok, I'll use urls. Hmm, I wouldn't want that, plainly because it's too much work. Otherwise I think it's a good idea. Now, the small problem then is who will look over that and maintain it. You already volunteered about initially creating such a structure, and maybe it's easy for me to maintain it. (Hint: there is 90+gb stuff not yet sorted in, too :) > Ok.... It should be updated by now, sorry for the delay (I was attending LinuxTag). > >A list of urls would be more useful (what you see is a big symlink tree). > > Yes, a huge tree, as I thought. Ok, I'll use urls. /anime/eps etc. suffices, i..e I do not need the http://*.plan9.de prefix. > Once I get the active index file, it will take only some days. Sure, there is no need to hurry. I am happy enought hat somebody actually does it. > >A napster network just for anime (called AF Peer to Peer). > > > >http://animeshare.com/ > > I think, for P2P there is a lot of stuff on the file sharing rings. > But (as a kind of censorship) my ISP (is a uni) blocked the > usual ports, and nobody is running BT or e2dk on port 80... Yeah :) > That's why I appreciate plan9 so much ^_^; Well, my actual goal is to provide an archive, as it's often difficult to get old files on p2p networks. Right now I have a mixture of IMHO not-so-good series and very good series (sometimes very old). > >> Hontouni? Well, if they are, then all manufacturers deliver high-qwuality IDE drives, as I have disks form IBM/Hitachi, WD, Seagate, Maxtor, Fujitsu. On the other hand, I am quite good at re-using slightly broken harddisks (one of the disks, when written to, sometimes needs 2-3 tries until it can be read back). > >Well, a diff will suffice, I presume.
